My heart is a little… lot… heavy today.

I know the Bible talks about casting our burdens onto Jesus and letting him carry them for us.

Psalm 55:22 (NLT) Give your burdens to the LORD, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.

But… (you knew there had to be a but…)

The Bible also speaks about bearing each other’s burdens.

Galatians 6:2 (NLT) Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

So many people prayed for us and helped carry our burden while Annabelle was at her worst. I can’t tell you what that meant to me, and still does. Life still isn’t roses and sunshine, but I love the buds that are beginning to peek out this past year. Only God could bring life and hope out of our darkest moments.

But now that our own time of divvying up the burden is getting a little less, I’m looking around and seeing a whole bunch of hurting people. Some of them that need a pack lifted from their shoulders in the worst way. Worse yet, some have given God a glimpse of their middle finger and said, “You’re not doing what I asked, so I’m out of here.” then taken up their big pack of bitterness and suffering to their back, and walked out bitter and broken.

Tonight, I’m just overwhelmed with the need for prayer. Not for our family, although we definitely need that too. I know a few specifically God has put on my heart. Some families who have lost their sweet babies this past week, others who have been told that it’s hopeless, and others who are still fighting with fierceness.

Would you please join me today specifically? In prayer? In taking a piece of this burden for these families, even the only thing we can do from afar is lift of prayers to Jesus (I say even, when that is a LOT) for peace and strength and healing? Most of all though, it’s that peace one that I’m feeling led to pray for today.

We can do a lot of things for people, raise money, send flowers/balloons, post Facebook messages, raise awareness, and if you are “local” to one of these families, PLEASE DO. Putting our faith into action and not just spouting empty prayer platitudes and turning away is SO VERY important.

But you will NEVER convince me, EVER, that there is not power in prayer.

God may not answer them how WE want… but answer He will.

And if you could add in a prayer for our Annabelle on Monday as she goes in for her surgery, we would appreciate that to.

  1. I am one of the fighting moms (not one you know, but believe me there are thousands of us out here) battling for peace and you have my prayers!

  2. Krista, I know….after Leyda died and I was able to look the world in the eyes again….the hurt, oh the hurt around us…physical and spiritual….Come Lord Jesus as our provider, protector and our very peace, Amen

  3. Thanks to those who added their prayers today!

  4. It is technically "tomorrow" in my part of the world but I will be praying. Please be praying for our pastor's son and his wife. They gave birth to their first child last week. Baby Jaxon was born w/ transposition of the great vessels. He had his surgery this past Monday. They closed him on Thursday. He is still on the vent.

There is hardly a day that goes by without me praying for CHD children, some by name and collectively for the rest
