The last time I held Annabelle with no ventilator was, I believe, September 30th.
It is now November 1st, and we are attempting for the first time in over a month to get her off the ventilator! EEEEEEEeee!!
I am scared and elated and nervous and excited all at the same time. My sister and I coined a new phrase, being “Pessimistically Optimistic” and let me tell you, that describes today to a T.
PLEASE be praying today that she’s my little rock star and does FABULOUSLY.
Other prayer request:
As my facebook/twitter friends may know, Annabelle has been struggling with a fever since Friday, when it got up to 103. They found that she had another UTI. THis is her 2nd or 3rd one, and there is no reason for her to be getting them, so once she is stable off the vent, they will be sending her for a VCUG, where they make sure her bladder and urinary track is working correctly. They are checking for reflex of urine (I know gross…) back up into her bladder (or worse case, kidneys.) Depending on the degree of reflux depends on the treatment. Lower grades could mean she has to be on an antibiotic long term (like years and years) and higher grades could mean surgery.
I think she’s trying to pull her tube out early! |
To be honest, today I can’t think a lot about this. I already have the prospect of at least 2 more open heart surgeries, a possible stomach surgery, and now possibly another surgery? Ugh. So, I’m choosing today to ignore all this and focus on getting her safely off the ventilator and into MOMMY’S ARMS!!!
Will post some pictures later of her BREATHING TUBE FREE!!! (and if you’re just checking recently, make sure you check out her halloween pictures from yesterday:-))
Praying that all goes well today!! Such a sweet baby and good Mama!
Love,
Angie

SHe's so sweet, Krista! And she looks like she's putting on weight. I am praying she'll be ventilator free for good.
Aw, Krista, I just said some prayers for Annabelle and for you. I have a feeling that she'll do just fine.
One day at a time, sweet Jesus. One day at a time. 😉
God bless you all.
Praying!
