First, a big huge CONGRATS to all the finalists in the Genesis contest! This was my first year entering, and obviously I didn’t final, but I’m so anxious to see the comments and get to work on revising to make my mss better! AGAIN, a big WOOHOO for everyone!
Krista! Thank you so much for comisserating with me during the past couple of weeks. It was so comforting to know I could chat about the contest with someone!
I am truly humbled to final because I know there are so many other great writers out there. And so much is really subjective. Thanks for your encouragement and your wonderfully uplifting blog!
And for those who entered contemporary! Wow 75 competitors! I’m sure it was tough!
I hope you will share your results and judges comments once you get them! I might try to next week too. Will be fun to see what everyone thinks!
I’m thinking about you and sending a hug your way!
Yes, 75 was a lot. And that makes me feel a teensy bit better about not finaling… BUT I REALLY want my results to see if I did really good, okay, or stinky.
I will share… unless they are like horrible and I need to burn them. LOL
Seriously, I entered the Zondervan contest last year and got so-so results on that. BUT, I revised giving the AWESOME feedback I got, so I’ll be happy as long as I do better than that. If I do worse, then I’ll be really disappointed.
Thanks for thinking of me! I’m sending congrats hugs towards you! OH! And now that you are a finalist… will this spur you on to come to ACFW so you can accept yoru award in person at the banquent WHEN you win? (sorry to the others in that catagory… LOL)
75 was a lot of entries. I had one in there, too, and was really hopeful. But…70 of us couldn’t final! Like you, I’m hoping my scores are still reasonably high. Ah well.
And I did final in Spec Fic, so I can’t be totally down!
Yay! Thanks for the list. 🙂
You have my sympathy pains when you go over your scoresheet. I’m hoping you find a huge, golden nugget of advice, and of course lots of compliments. 🙂
Valerie… CONGRATS on finaling!!! In ANY catagory that is a HUGE honor!
Jessica, my prayer is that I don’t need sympathy pains, LOL. I’m okay at taking critisism… as long as it is nicely given. Now. if I have like all 50’s or something, then bring on those pains, girl!
Ice cream was a good idea. 🙂
Sorry you didn’t final. Hopefully you’ll get some really great and helpful comments. 🙂
Sorry you didn’t make it to the top, but you’re one step ahead of me (you took the chance to compete). Ice cream though, is a decent consolation prize. Don’t worry and keep trying. Maybe next time I’ll be competing against you, heh heh.
Congrats to all the finalists! Kudos! You, next time, Krista.
Eric, yes, Ice cream was second best but GOOD! LOL. What genre do you write in?
Lotusgirl… I ditto! There’s always next time!
Hey, thanks for posting that! Congrats, all!!!
I’m also looking forward to receiving the critiques back on my submission. I’ve been stalled out on my story, so I’m praying that the comments will help to give me some motivation and direction.
