Annabelle had a FUN day today. We needed one after a very, very stressful last week (actually last 2 weeks!)
What did we do on our fun day?
For one, we had minimal desats, no blood pressure/respitory issues, and only had doctor’s visits when they passed by our room to ooohhh and aaaahhhh over Annabelle.
Mommy did have a nice chat with one of the nurse practitioners about future extubations, which at the earliest we will try on Monday. The plan at the moment is to stay put and have some R&R through Friday, and start to wean the vent and do fun CPAP trials on Saturday. IF she does GREAT on ALL her trials, we could extubate Monday, but if she takes a little time to get used to it, then we’ll make sure we wait until she has had a couple of good days doing GOOD on CPAP trials.
So back to our fun day today.
I woke up to Annabelle having had a good bath, looking awesome in her bow and outfit.
Then, a very nice nurse came in and gave her a manicure and pedicure, since her old nail polish was starting to fade.
Next came the physical therapist who gave Annabelle a nice massage!
We decided that Annabelle needed to have a little fun, so we put her in her tumble foam chair. She loved it! She got to see the world a bit, play with her toys, and even take a little nap. She was in her chair for a good 4 hours or more and loved every second! During this time, Mommy worked on her day job stuff from the hospital and got quite a bit done, which was very good too!
Then the same nice nurse that did Annabelle’s nails was sweet enough to allow Annabelle some Mommy holdy time. So Mommy and Annabelle snuggled for a good 45 minutes. It would have been longer except Annabelle decided to release all the poop she’d been holding up for the last 2 days (they’d been threatening to use a supposotory to clean her out, she didn’t like that so did the job herself.) So, we had a nice fun diaper change in Mommy’s lap. (Dolly also had a nice time in Annabelle’s crib, enjoying some time in the bed by herself!)
Then we had fun getting weighed, because we REALLY didn’t believe the weight of 4.75 kg (10lb 7oz) from a day ago. She weighed 5.23 kg (11lb 8oz). MUCH more like it, since her previous weight before that had been 5.1 kg. (11lb 4oz)
After that, we had to clean up for the day. Annabelle thought it would be fun to dress up for the night nurse (she plans on trying to bribe her into taking her for a night on the town… but Mommy doesn’t think it’s gonna fly…), so she dawned her cherry dress, and looks pretty darn snazzy.
Then, because of the excitement of the day, she decided she must rest up. She’s snoozing away right now, all numbers good, vent helping her breathe.
God is good. ALL the time. Thank you Jesus for good, uneventful, restful fun days with my Annabelle.
Oh, and Annabelle told me to tell you all HELLO and that she is SO SO thankful for your prayers.
She's such a doll!
Beautiful, beautiful baby girl.
I'm so glad you had a fun day with your girl. She looks lovely with her outfits and how sweet of the nurse to do her nails! 🙂
It's so cool to see a good day! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures and the details of the fun day!
Oh Krista – what an AMAZING day. Annabelle is such a gift, and so are those good days!! Praising God for you and continuing to pray for your girl.
What a wonderful day! It must have been a huge relief to you to have some fun with her and all her numbers stay good.
Awwww! I'm loving the pics! You two had such a beautiful day together. And you know, I think cuddling with you really relaxed her and that's why she had her stinkies on you. LOL
Here's praying for another beautiful day tomorrow!
She is so adorable. I love the bows!
She's so sweet. Praise God for good days!
