Per Marybeth’s facebook prodding *wink* *wink* I am blogging about my new idea for a book.

But…

I’m not going to tell you about it yet. Mostly because it is just a baby idea. I have a theme and a publishing line I am gearing it towards. I have a setting and the shadow of a hero and heroine. But the rest is gray and fuzzy. So my idea, that I really like and think has tons of merit, would be like, “Uh, so?” to you all. Okay, maybe you would like the idea that I could present even in it’s simplistic nature, but I want to work with it and get enough of a plot down before I broadcast my WIP.

BUT, suffice to say, I’m excited about it! Beyond my current 3 book project, I had a few random ideas but nothing really concrete yet, and this storyline is just antsy to be written.

I WILL tell you that I’m targeting the Summerside Press’ “Love Finds You” line for this particular book idea. I went tonight and purchased one of the “Love Finds You” books as research. I am a big believer in reading books from publishers you are targeting, especially if it’s a specific line.

Discussion: I seriously was tempted in prompting everyone to guess where you think my “Love Finds You In” book would be set. (If you don’t know the line, they all feature a small town, the name having a great deal to do with the nature of the book, and state. Like… “Love finds you in Humble, TX” or “Love finds you in Snowball, Arkansas”. But… some of my blog readers are kinda wacky. I’m afraid of what you’ll come up with! *grin* So, guess if you want, but my discussion topic is: Where do you get your ideas? Do things just “pop” into your head or are they well thought out ideas? Do take events from real life? Use your current WIP and let’s all share where our ideas came from! I think it will be fun!

  1. My first novel was a well thought out idea. I used Logic to decide what I wanted to write about. I don't think I nailed what I was trying to do, but I'm happy nonetheless.

My second novel, not yet in progress, but a brewin up in my brain came from a dream I had. It was a small scene that I felt NEEDED to be elaborated on. We'll see where it goes. I have way too many ideas for it and can't figure out how to put it all together.

And how bout "Love finds you in Hell, MI" (Seriously…there is a Hell, MI!!!)

  2. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop. Pop.

  3. That's a cool line! I'm excited about them and hope to target them someday, if I ever have anything that fits. 🙂
Have fun playing with your plot. LOL
