A View from my Bookshelf – July/August/September

I took a blogging break in July — August was laughably busy with back to school — so now here I am.

September. And starting back my monthly post with some of my FAVORITE books I’ve read in the last month–but this one will include the last three months (narrowing down 3 months of books read to my few favorites was HARD, can I just tell you??)

Hearts Made Whole by Jody Hedlund. This is book 2 in her Beacons of Hope series based on historical lighthouses in Michigan. Jody is one of my FAVORITE authors and her books are on my MUST HAVE IN PAPER list, and this book didn’t disappoint. In fact, I’ve been sick with a stupid stupid cold this last week so have laid around much more than normal, and on one such day, read this whole book. It’s RARE that I get time to do that, or have a book that makes me even want to! While you can definitely read this book without having read the other, I highly recommend you check out both the prequel, Out of the Storm (a novella that is FREE on Amazon) and the first book in the series, Love Unexpected.

To Win Her Favor by Tamera Alexander. I’ve been on a historical kick lately, if you can’t tell! I LOVE Tamera’s books and her Nashville based Belle Meade series is no exception! She does a great job weaving in history while not making me feel like I’m reading a history textbook, and she writes some GREAT romance. You can also check out the other Belle Meade novel, To Whisper her Name which I also read and loved!

For Such a Time by Kate Breslin. This book is actually going to inspire a future blog post at some point. It’s a book set in WWII around the Holocaust and inspired by the story of Esther. There was a bit of controversy around this book on social media the past month or so. I’d had it sitting on my bookshelf to-read pile but it got moved to the top to see what all the hubbub was about. Needless to say, it made my list of favorites!! I also have her newest release, Not by Sight, on my to-read list as well!

Hope
